The Minimal Invasive Surgery Center at Korea University Ansan Hospital held a symposium at the Grand Auditorium of the hospital on Friday, June 11, celebrating the 5th anniversary of the center. The symposium also accompanied the publication of ¡°The Minimal Invasive Surgery¡± and featured programs that cast light on the past, the present and the future of minimal invasive surgery for patients. The Minimal Invasive Surgery, published to celebrate the symposium, represents the gathering of the expertise and insights of the all staff members interested in the field of minimal invasive surgery and who have contrributed the center for the last five years, and is expected to help significantly improve the understanding of minimal invasive surgery in Korea.
Professor Park Jung-Yul from department of neurosurgery, the current president of the Center for Minimal Invasive Surgery, opened the symposium with remarks as: ¡°minimal invasive surgery has shifted significantly the field of surgery worldwide and it is not just a trend but a future of medicine¡±. The Minimal Invasive Surgery Center at Korea University Ansan Hospital has made great progresses and achievements in this area over the last five years and became a leading group in Korea as a role model with great enthusiastic effort to build up a multidisciplinary, and multimodality team-approach. Currently, Korea University Ansan Hospital is equipped with two Minimal Invasive Surgical Rooms, Surgical Learning Unit with simulation facilities and self-learning program. The publication of The Minimal Invasive Surgery will greatly help students and doctors interested in the surgery.
