Selected for Support Project for Integrated Care Center for High-Risk Pregnancy and Neonate

Korea University Ansan Hospital was selected for a project for Integrated Care Center for high-risk pregnancy and neonate organized and supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

In line with the increase of high-risk pregnant mothers and newborn infants with serious conditions, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has implemented this project in order to establish an integrated management system from pregnancy to childbirth and to the treatment of infants with serious illnesses. Korea University Ansan Hospital received high scores in overall evaluation categories including human resources, facilities, and projects with other organizations in the local community and became the only institution in the southern Gyeonggi area which was selected for the project.

It was only the Ansan Hospital which had already operated the intensive treatment rooms for high-risk pregnant women and neonatal ICUs in the region and it also takes responsibility for the maternal and neonatal health through a management and transfer system for them established by constantly having briefing sessions and training with local hospitals and clinics.

As it was selected for the project, the Ansan Hospital will secure more human resources and facilities and carry out various activities by having education sessions on health for soon-to-be-married couples and cooperating with other medical institutions in the region.

Choi Byung-min, the president of Korea University Ansan Hospital, said, "The Ansan hospital has taken the responsibility for the health and childbirth in southern Gyeonggi area by establishing an intensive treatment system for high-risk pregnancy and neonate." "As we were selected for the project, we will spare no support for advancing the treatment system for high-risk pregnant mothers and infants," he added.
