College of Medicine Alumni Association
Chairman Iltae Jang of Nanoori Medical Foundation (41th graduates class of Korea University College of Medicine) became the 35th president of Korea University College of Medicine Alumni Association. The term of office is 2 years from January 2021 to December 2022.
“It is an honor to be the president of the alumni association of my alma mater which is making stellar achievements for Korea’s medical development based on its proud history,” the new president of the association, Iltae Jang stated. “I will do everything for the development of the association and the alma mater so they can grow larger, wider, and deeper. I will work with 8,000 members of the university reflecting upon what it and the society needs.”
Born in 1957, he graduated from Korea University College of Medicine in 1983 and received a master's and a doctorate degree from the same university. Leading Nanoori Medical Foundation which runs specialized hospitals in spine and joint disease since 2002, he is spearheading the efforts to give back to society: ‘Sarang Nanoori’ projects that offer free surgeries to the marginalized in Korea and medical volunteering in medically underserved countries overseas. He serves as a special executive director of the Korean Neurosurgical Society, Executive Committee Chair of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society, president of hospital doctors association of the Korean Society of Spine Surgery, honorary president of hospital doctors association of the Korean Neurosurgical Society. Since 2019, he has been contributing to the development of his alma mater as a member of the Development Committee of KU Medicine.
