Observing high-quality medical technology,

High satisfaction with active participation in medical research

Many young foreign doctors are gathering in Korea to learn a leading medical technology in Korea. A typical example is the Dept. Gastroenterology of Korea University Anam Hospital. In 2017, more than ten foreign doctors majoring in various sub-divisions such as upper and lower digestive organs, and pancreatic duct, from Turkey, Indonesia, India, Mongolia, and so on received medical training at Dept. Gastroenterology of the KUAH.

Seven foreign doctors have already received medical training in the first half of this year, and more than five foreign doctors are scheduled to receive it by the end of this year. The number of those who plan to receive medical training is growing every year. Chun Hoon Jai, the head of Endoscopy Center, said, “The satisfaction level of foreign doctors is very high because the Dept. Gastroenterology provides a good place for broad learning where foreign doctors can learn various surgical procedures highly recognized in the world and discuss with professionals in the medical field.”

In addition to receiving medical training in almost all fields such as the endoscope for stomach cancer and colon cancer and endoscopic ultrasound, foreign doctors are actively participating in various studies conducted by the Department of Gastroenterology. Based on this, Candemir(38) from Adnan Menderes University, Turkey, was awarded the Travel Grant Prize in IMKASID 2018 held in Grand Hilton Seoul in April 2018. He said, “Medical procedures that I learned were beneficial. I will actively practice them when I go back to Turkey.”

Foreign doctors consider a mutual exchange of opinions with young Korean doctors as one of the advantages given that more than ten clinical assistant professors and fellows from the Dept. Gastroenterology of the KUAH are participating in training programs for foreign doctors. Chun Hoon Jai, the director of Dept. Gastroenterology, said, “Medical care also needs to keep up with the global age. Korea will play a key role in the international medical society.”He also expressed his ambitions by saying that the Dept. Gastroenterology of the KUAH will play a leading role based on global networks.
